The IT Department on a cruise ship is responsible for the operation and maintenance of every aspect of the onboard systems. The staff of this department maintains the hardware as well as the software on all onboard computers.

Computer Systems/Hardware Technician – He/she is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and upgrading equipment and software, as well as installing peripheral equipment, dealing with the network, assisting with and training onboard users and/or passengers. They are paid between $5500-$5800 per month.

If you’re interested, you need to know that most cruise ship IT jobs will have as part of the job requirements, a high school diploma, training or experience that is equivalent to an associate degree in computers, and you will need to be fluent in English, both verbal and written.  The ability to get on well with people and perhaps even be able to sell will come in very handy for anyone applying for an IT job on a cruise ship.
